Dodgers: Fan Hurls a Beer Can at Cody Bellinger During the Game

Look, it wasn’t the best night for Padres fans. Not only did the Dodgers walk all over them in the series opener on Friday night in San Diego, but the home plate umpire dished out enough questionable calls to upset any baseball fans.

But throwing stuff at players is just something that cannot happen. Jake Cronenworth hit a fly-out ball to center field during the 6th inning that Cody Bellinger ran down in the gap. The Dodgers outfielder tossed the ball back in, but not before a beer can flew past him.

Both Bellinger and Chris Taylor paused to look up to the stands for a moment before resuming play. The Dodgers outfielder could have been the intended target, though there’s obviously no way to know for sure. But given the circumstances, it certainly looked to be intentional.

The Dodgers would go on to dominate the Padres en route to a 7-1 win. But you can be sure the Padres are investigating what happened, throwing things onto the field and at players like that can result in a lifetime from the stadium.

Up next, the Dodgers and Padres are back at it again on Saturday evening. Hopefully there are far less beer cans involved this time around.
