Dodgers Injury News: Victor Gonzalez and Mitch White Head to the IL

Dave Roberts said before the game on Tuesday night that members of the team had received vaccinations on Monday. Because of that, Roberts said it was a possibility that the Dodgers would place some of them on the injured list. 

That likely turned out to be true just before game time on Tuesday. The Dodgers announced that they had placed Victor Gonzalez and Mitch White on the injured list, but did not specify the reason for the moment. That is obviously in an effort to keep player’s health matters private. 

In their place, the Dodger recalled Garrett Cleavinger and DJ Pters. Both guys were optioned to the minor league alt site after the weekend series against the Padres. Part of that came with the Dodgers’ recall of Matt Beaty. and activation of Dennis Santana.

That sort of leaves the Dodgers in a pinch with their bullpen, especially without an off-day before heading to Milwaukee. The good news is that they get Cleavinger on rest and will likely use him sometime this series. 

The Dodgers are also eligible to pull Gonzalez and White off of the COVID injured list whenever they are ready. There is no minimum duration for that under MLB’s guidelines for the injured list.
