Dodgers: Mookie Betts Compares Rivalry with Giants to Red Sox vs Yankees

The Dodgers are entering the crux of their first ever postseason matchup against the San Francisco Giants on Monday.

Starting right fielder and spark plug atop the lineup Mookie Betts said the historic rivalry could be enjoyable for the club, likening the matchup to the storied rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

“It is a heated battle but it’s also a lot of fun,” Betts said. “It reminds me of the Red Sox and Yankees, kind of similar to that only in the National League.”

Betts spent his first six major league seasons in Boston, making four all-star appearances, and winning both the American League’s most valuable player award and a World Series Championship during his time there. For as much that’s made out of each and every time the Red Sox and Yankees match up, the history between the Dodger and Giants organizations goes back more than a century to the boroughs of New York.

The 29-year-old superstar said he’s grateful to be part of such a storied rivalry once again.

“It’s a great rivalry to be a part of and I’m just thankful to be a part of it,” Betts said.

Dodger fans are thankful that Mookie is doing his part to help LA try and go back to back as world champs. His incredible defense has already been on display early this October and he’s leading the LA offense with 5 hits in 3 games so far, posting a .417 batting average
