Dodgers: Mookie Betts Drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters

A Dodgers player has joined the ranks of the Harlem Globetrotters following their 14th annual player draft. The Globetrotter Draft selects players from various sports backgrounds that generally have some sort of ties to basketball. Betts was a standout high school basketball star who could dunk even at a young age.

Betts becomes just one of a few Major League Baseball players to become a Globetrotters pick. Mariano Rivera and Aaron Judge are the other two to be selected in years past. Betts becomes the only Dodgers player to have been selected.

The Globetrotters have always chosen to draft players that are exciting and can captivate fans. Our players need to be more than just their incredible athletic skills. This group of draftees embodies everything that it means to be a Harlem Globetrotter. -Globetrotters head coach Barry Hardy

Betts joined Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, University of North Carolina at Pembroke basketball player Shaun Kirk, internet star Sister Margaret Ann and posthumously honored actor Chadwick Boseman as this year’s draft picks.
