Dodgers: Mookie Betts Out of the Lineup Again and Unavailable

The Dodgers and Nationals are back at it tonight at Chavez Ravine. After a very entertaining home opener complete with the World Series ring introduction, Los Angeles gets back to action.

Unfortunately, the Dodgers will be without Mookie Betts once again. The All-Star outfielder has sat the last few games after dealing with lingering back soreness. Betts slid awkwardly headfirst into second base on a steal attepemt against the A’s, possibly leading to the issue.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that he will not be available in any capacity tingiht. That would include on defense as well as pinch-hit opportunities. The hope is that the next time he is in, Betts will be in there as a starter.

The Dodgers will once again have Zach McKinstry out in right field in place of Betts. McKinstry got the start at the home opener after Betts was forced to sit with the back issue. McKinstry went hitless during the home opener on Friday.

The Dodgers will have Julio Urias out on the mound tonight to face the Nats. Los Angeles also pushed back Dustin May, who was supposed to start on Sunday. Clayton Kershaw will go on normal rest instead.

  1. Like Dodgers decided with Bellinger, why don’t the put Betts on the IL instead of waiting around and playing short a player on the roster. They could back date this as well. This is what concerns me about how Roberts and the team handle these injury issues.

  2. Who thinks this guy is going to last 12 years?

And what are the last 6 years going to look like?
