Dodgers News: Alex Wood Starts, LA Recalls Pitcher Mitch White, Sborz Optioned
With the Dodgers going with a third bullpen game in less than a week, some length was going to be needed for this Friday in Colorado. For that, LA made a roster move ahead of the game. Right-handed pitcher Mitch White gets his third call up of the season for the Dodgers. In a corresponding move, RHP Josh Sborz was optioned to the club’s alternate site at USC.
#Dodgers have activated Mitch White from taxi squad and optioned Josh Sborz. All hands on deck for bullpen game at Coors Field

White figures to act as bulk guy for the Dodgers while lefty Alex Wood makes his first start since opening week. Wood is not built up in terms of pitches and innings, so he figures to act as more of an opener.
Alex Wood starts for the #Dodgers tonight. A day after Dave Roberts said he wouldn't start anymore this season.
WHEN WILL THE LIES END?? lol

The line about Dave Roberts lies was understandably in jest.
Wood, 29, has allowed just 1 earned run in 5.1 innings pitched since returning from the injured list with shoulder inflammation. In his career at Coors Field, he’s posted a 1-2 record with a 9.75 ERA in 24 innings, so buckle up tonight.
Mitch White has 1 appearance for Los Angeles this year, his MLB debut in Texas where he tossed 1 scoreless inning, allowing a hit and walk. Sborz, in his second season with the Dodgers, has allowed only 1 earned run in 4.1 IP.
Game time tonight is 5:10 PM PT on SportsNet LA with Leadoff LA starting at 4 PM PT. The Rockies send Ryan Castellani (1-2, 4.46) to the mound.
NEXT: Dodgers Sign Cole Percival, Son of Former All-Star Closer Troy Percival
Wood will (Hopefully) not be back next year. Hoping that White gets some innings as he has a lot of potential and with injuries etc has had his progress through the farm system interrupted.
The Wood man got bombed again. 3 earned runs in two innings to bring his overall ERA to 6.10. I don’t see a spot for him in the postseason. You can run him out there again during the regular season, but the rotation and the bullpen are both loaded for the postseason.
