The Dodgers had a whole lot of roster movement this past week with injuries and even some trades going down. We got to see quite a few new faces, most of which were not expected to contribute to the big league team this early on.
With that, let’s dive into some of the news from around the team this week.
The Dodgers had a really odd ending to their game against the Phillies earlier in the week. On what many believed to be strike 2, JT Realmuto was rung up to end the game. That led to a whole lot of confusion and was later explained on Twitter.
Los Angeles surprisingly selected the contract of Steven Souza Jr this week, and he immediately made an impact on the team. Sort of. Souza went deep against the Diamondbacks on Friday night to give them a late lead.
Speaking of Souza, he talked about his journey through the big leagues and landing with Los Angeles. Before the Dodgers came calling, the veteran outfielder was starting to think his playing career might be over.
Los Angeles swung a trade this week just a few days after designating Dennis Santana for assignment. The young pitcher was sent off to the Rangers after struggling through another stint with the big league club. It was a surprising move, but Dennis now gets the chance to make an impact with a new squad.
And finally, Trevor Bauer has a solution to MLB’s issue with foreign substances. The Dodgers hurler suggested that the league make the ball somewhat sticky, and it sounds like there is technology to do that on a consistent basis.
