Back-to-back two-out singles by Kendrick and Gonzalez brought the Dodgers hope in the fifth, but Justin Turner took it all away when he struck out to end the inning.

Aoki got on board for the this time in the bottom of the fifth, this time on a one-out walk. However, a liner by Duffy and a strikeout by Pagan kept the score the same.

The sixth inning for the Dodgers went much like many of the previous 27 innings. Alex Guerrero hit a one-out single, followed by a single by Ellis. Guerrero, however, was thrown out trying to go first to third, then Kershaw struck out to end the inning.

Posey, Pence and Arias all went in order in the bottom of the sixth, to give Kershaw a quick 1-2-3 inning.

After retiring Pederson, Bumgarner was replaced by right-hander George Kontos after 107 pitches. Kontos retired Hernandez and gave up a single to Kendrick before being replaced by left-hander Javier Lopez, who retired Gonzalez on a groundout.

Kershaw again had a quick inning in the seventh, the lone blemish being a two-out walk to Justin Maxwell.

Jimmy Rollins came into the game to pinch hit in the eighth and hit an infield single off Sergio Romo with one out. Guerrero followed by hitting into an inning-ending double play.

The reigning MVP came out for the bottom of the eighth and allowed two singles to end his day. Chris Hatcher came in and a chopper just out of his reach allowed a run to score to make it 3-0. Paco Rodriguez then came in to face the Giants. Brandon Crawford poked a single to center to drive in another run before he retired the side. The Dodgers trailed 4-0.
