Dodgers Walker Buehler Reaction to First All-Star Game

It’s safe to say that 2018 was Walker Buehler’s coming out party as the rookie sensation blew the competition away with array of fastballs and grit that infused Dodger fans from all over.

Who can forget his performance in game 163 versus the Colorado Rockies?

Ever since his Tommy John surgery, the Dodgers have been extremely careful with his innings count and due to last year’s extended post-season run, the Dodgers were again very careful in bringing Buehler back into the rotation this spring.

He made only one appearance in Spring Training, so it took him a couple of months to get into the grooves of the regular season, but once June came around and the fans were about to vote, Walker Buehler put on a show with a 0.79 ERA before his last game in Colorado and a 16 strikeout performance that sent chills up the fans at Dodger Stadium.

Now, Buehler is going to probably is his first of many all-star games, he had this to say to SportsNetLA:

“It’s something you hope might one day happen but never truly think it will until it does. . … I think the biggest thing for me is kind of getting off to a bad start and simplifying the game. The kind of run the past couple of months I’ve had, with the exception of [Coors Field], has been limiting walks and striking guys out. It’s been a good run, and obviously I’m very honored.”

Being able to go with his fellow teammates is also very special:

“Obviously Ryu has been unbelievable, and I don’t think you can ever say Kersh didn’t deserve it. It should be a good time with all four of us going.”

Despite the all-star snubs, the Dodgers are well represented in Cleveland with a mix of veteran and youthful energy that hopefully sends a message to the other all-stars that the Dodgers are serious about winning that elusive World Series this year.
