Tweets Of The Night: Clayton Kershaw Dominant In 6-1 Dodgers Win
The Dodgers finally made their way back into the postseason after a four year absence. Tonight was the first time the Dodgers played in October since the NLCS in 2009, but they are primed for much better results this time around.
The Dodgers were in Atlanta for Game 1 of the NLDS and they had their ace Clayton Kershaw on the mound. The last time Kershaw pitched in the postseason was in 2009 and he was nowhere near the pitcher he is today. Kershaw finished the season with a 16-9 record and an astonishing 1.83 ERA. Kershaw is now 25 and the best pitcher in baseball while the Dodgers aren’t only hoping he leads them to victory in Game 1, but to a World Series title.
Meanwhile, the Braves with Kris Medlen tonight and while on paper he might not match up well with Kerhsaw, he finished the season with a lot of momentum. In his last six starts, Medlen went 5-0 and finished the season with a 15-12 record and a 3.11 ERA. The 27 year-old right hander has been better at Turner field, with a 9-6 with and 2.26 ERA.
Andre Ethier is on the postseason roster, but manager Don Mattingly said he would only be available to pinch hit in both games in Atlanta. Skip Schumaker will playing center field and batting seventh.
